Initiate the children to the permaculture… this was the objective a large project we started in 2015 thanks to the help and expertise of the non-profit organisation Neofood.

From the creation of flower pots to seeds plantation, we, alongside the children, discovered the elements to set up an efficient permaculture project.

Understand this necessary underground life, how to protect it from the sun with a adequate straw-mulching… and to frequently water … to harvest.

We take this opportunity to use the compost from our compost bin filled regularly by the children.

This is also a good time to develop the children’s art skills by making sectioning sketches of the flower  pot, doing concrete mathematics and learning the english translation of the fruits and vegetables we harvest. And then cook the vegetables with the help of a renowned chef from Noumea.

Mid-July, the children from the GS grade went with Odile to meet whales and the children of the school of Ouen island. They camped for 3 nights at Port Boise. On Tuesday, after setting camp at Port Boise where they spent 3 nights, they followed the steps of the convicts who came in New Caledonia a long time ago. On Wednesday, thanks to Gilles, they sailed on Kaze to go see whales, and again on Thursday to go and meet the children of  the Ouen island during one extraordinary day of sharing.

The eventually went back to school on Friday afternoon after having cooked and tasted a bougna.
